What a week! I had the honour of being asked to host Women in Property’s Oxford Leading Ladies breakfast, sharing my journey in both the property industry and being an Entrepreneur.
The Association of Women in Property creates opportunities, expands knowledge and inspires change for women working in the property and construction industry.
Women in Property believe that success and its rewards should be founded on merit and expertise, rather than gender. They actively seek an industry that is balanced, diverse and inclusive, so we nurture girls aspiring to a career in the built environment sector, as well as supporting those in ‘mid-career’ and at board level.
I talked about what’s given me my drive to succeed in business, and my wonderful team at IMS, Michelle Niziol Ltd and The Empowering Entrepreneur. I also touched upon my time on BBC’s The Apprentice and dealing with the world of internet trolls, which unfortunately only seems to be getting worse. It’s hard to believe there were almost 400,000 tweets (mostly regarding my appearance) about me in the first episode!
The Women in Property group were a fantastic mix of both women in sales and those working in property law, and it was great to chat to so many hardworking, successful women. There were some brilliant questions, and I’m so pleased so many of them have got in touch following the event.
I believe it’s so important when working in a high-pressure industry, to take the time out for self-reflection and improvement, and to sit back and appreciate both how far you’ve come, and where you want to be in the future. It’s so easy to get caught up in the day to day grind and let everything wash over you.
Thank you Women in Property, you’re all an inspiration! Hope to see you all soon. x
